Lefty Pinoy Angler

My name is Leff or LeftyPinoyAngler on YouTube. Locally, I’m known as “The Pompano Slayer”. I was born in the Philippines and moved to Corpus Christi, TX in 2005. In the Philippines, I fished from a canoe and also at the beach using only a hand line because I did not have a fishing pole. I started fishing back home because it was the cheapest way to find food. Even now, I still fish for my food instead of buying it. When we moved to America, I asked the locals how they fished and I was told to use a rod and reel. It was the first time I saw this method of fishing and I was amazed at how easy it was to catch fish like this. Growing up, I always loved the beach and fishing in the surf and since arriving in Corpus, that is all I’ve done. I love to target Pompano! Catching Pompano in Texas can be tricky due to high winds, dirty water, and the casting distance it takes to reach them. I am a competing long caster and a member of the Shore Fishing and Casting Club International (SFCCI). Even though I am only 5’2″ and weigh 125 lbs, I managed to cast 702’ in the tournament on 11/17/2024 using a 13’ fishing rod and 125g weight. When not searching for pompano, I’m chasing redfish, black drum, trout, sheephead, flounder, kingfish, spanish mackerel, jack crevalle, tarpon, and snook. I wish I had started my YouTube page sooner because I enjoy teaching others new techniques, where to fish, and demonstrating how products work. It’s a blessing to help others become great fishermen.
